The biggest fans of tulips - the Dutch

With the arrival of spring almost all the coastal lands of Holland from Catwalk to Den Helder turned into a colorful flower carpet, painted in all colors of the rainbow. A plantation of flowers, occupying one fifth of the territory of the province, or about 17500 hectares. More than half of them – tulips.

Tulips were originally cultivated in the Ottoman Empire (now Turkey). The word “Tulip” comes from the Persian “turban”. Is the name of the flower derives from the resemblance to the Eastern headdress resembling a turban.
