When in June 1941 our country was attacked by fascist invaders, every citizen of the Soviet Union stood in their way. The struggle was for every street, for every house and every floor. And it exhausted the opponent not only physically, but also morally. Courage and heroism of defenders of those cities where there were especially fierce fights in which tens, hundreds of thousands of people were lost, were rewarded with assignment of a rank the City-Heroes.
