One of the world's largest quarrying diamond mining

The depth of the kimberlite pipe "Mir" is about 525 meters, the top diameter of 1200 meters, the length of the spiral of the Congress about 8 kilometers.

Until 2001 works at the facility was conducted in an open way, but because of the great depth, representing danger to workers, the decision was made to transition to the mines closed. Currently, the quarry turned into a local city landmark.
