"The main outcome of the Arctic expedition became the visual confirmation of the opening of the hydrographs of the Northern fleet, two new Islands, located in the heart of the glacier rose the coast of Novaya Zemlya. The larger of them has a length of about 400 meters," — said Serga.
For the first time these two new object was detected with radar stations hydrographic vessel "Horizon" in September 2016.
The representative of the Navy noted that during the Arctic expedition hydrographs produced more than 11 thousand kilometers of route measurements, performed 30 one-time drift of Oceanographic stations. Conducted soil and topographic survey, geophysical work and study of radio navigation systems of the Northern sea route.
The route of the ship passed through the Barents and Kara sea and the Laptev sea, studies were carried out on the archipelago Franz-Joseph Land, Severnaya Zemlya, new Siberian Islands, Novaya Zemlya.
To the East of the island Wiese the ship performed a detailed survey of the bottom relief in the area of the existing maps of the "white spots" with an area of about 1500 square kilometers, which will allow you to publish the new guidelines and manuals for navigation.
